Susan Cummings from Tiny Rebel Games on immortal pets in web3 [video]

What lessons can we learn from Nintendogs’ heyday? How can we take Crypto pets from one game to another and achieve truly immortal pets in web3? Digging into these questions and more in this session from the Pocket Gamer Connects London 2023 live session, Tiny Rebel Games General Manager Susan Cummings shares her perspective.

The Immortality of Digital Pets

Cummings discusses the limitations of Nintendogs. Essentially, Nintendo restricted these pets, and players never really had true ownership. Cummings also sheds light on how web3 can solve this dilemma, and how her own company’s project, the Petaverse Network, can provide not only Crypto ownership, but proper end-user rights as well. The Petaverse network can provide reinterpretable metadata as the blueprint or DNA for true interoperability.

Beyond Nintendogs and the future of web3

Cummings summed up web3 in a nutshell: Ownership, Interoperability, and Composability, and went on to explain the various capabilities of the Petaverse network. Towards the end of the session, she shared her positive outlook for web3 and spoke about the evolution of these games from casual to mass market.

This 18-minute talk is perfect for anyone eager to learn how web3 can change the landscape of players’ sense of ownership while addressing issues like NFT price points.
