New York jury awards $133,000 to artist who made NFT infringing Hermès trademark

According to The Block, a New York jury sentenced artist Mason Rothschild to pay $133,000 in damages to luxury handbag maker Hermes and stated that NFT is not protected by the First Amendment, which protects freedom of speech. Previously, the artist used NFT technology to imitate the Birkin, Hermes’ flagship trademark. The NFT series will be launched in 2021, with a total of 1,000 pieces, of which 100 NFTs will be released.
