LG Korea has announced the launch of the LG StanbyME Go 27LX5, a portable monitor built into a travel case.
This somewhat odd product has a 27-inch 1080p touchscreen display as well as speakers and batteries, and the inside apparently looks like a briefcase. The display can be tilted up to 90 degrees, swiveled 90 degrees clockwise and height adjustable within 18 cm. User can choose horizontal or vertical orientation or use it in table mode. The display also supports Dolby Vision.
To go with the display, you also get a set of 20W speakers that adapt to the angle of the display. The speakers also support Dolby Atmos content.
The display runs on LG’s webOS platform for TVs, allowing users to stream content from iOS or Android devices using AirPlay and screen mirroring. An HDMI port is also provided for connection via cable. There’s also voice recognition support for hands-free operation.
LG claims the case has passed 11 U.S. Department of Defense durability tests, ensuring it is resilient against low pressure, heat, cold, dust, vibration, salt fog, shocks, and drops. Opening or closing the case cover also turns the display on and off.
The monitor includes a battery that provides up to three hours of use without the need for an external power source. The case also houses the remote control and power cord.
The LG StanbyME Go is priced at 1.17 million won (approximately $885) and will be available online and offline starting July 7.
