According to @BeenoxCODPC on Twitter, they mentioned a stability issue with the latest Nvidia driver.

They recommend keeping the 516.69 or 522.25 driver until Nvidia or MW2 fixes the problem.

Many players complain about validation issues.

“When I try to verify the files, the error message says they are corrupt and 9 MB files are downloaded every time. Any solution?”.

Fix 1: Roll back your Nvidia driver

Use Windows Search to search for “Device Manager” and open it. Expand Display Adapters and select your GPU. Go to the “Drivers” tab and select “Roll Back Driver”. Launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Fix 2: Do a clean Nvidia install of 516.69 or 522.25

Add the remaining .exe applications to Controlled Folder Access.

Fix 4: Allow games on Windows Defender Firewall

Open Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall > Allow an application or feature through Windows Defender Firewall > Change settings > Allow other applications… > Browse… > Select the cod.exe application > Add. Add the remaining .exe applications to your firewall.
